JACKSON, Miss. | Jackson State used a pair of home runs to power past Alabama A&M 11-8 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) series finale to complete the sweep at Braddy Field on Saturday afternoon.
Jackson State (20-17, 8-10 SWAC) used a two-run home run from Davione Hull in the second inning to grab a five-run lead before Alabama A&M took a one-run lead in the six and tied it again in the top of the eighth. However, Tyshon Patty connected on a solo shot to lead off the eighth inning to give Jackson State an 8-7 lead and start a four-run inning to extend the lead to 11-7 before Stevins Spurgeon Jr. shut the door in the ninth allowing just one run.
The Tigers picked up double-digit hits for the second consecutive game with 11 led by Patty who finished 3-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI. Jordan McCladdie finished 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored with a double and triple, while also recording a stolen base. Robert Tate Jr. finished 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and three RBI, and Wilbert Perez finished 2-for-4 on the day with a walk.
Nkosi Didder (2-3) picked up the win in relief of starter Eric Elliott, logging 1.0 inning and allowing just one hit. He was the third of four pitchers ont eh day including Elliott who got the start and lasted 5.0 innings allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits with three strikeouts. Shemar Harris came out of the bullpen to relieve Elliott logging 2.0 innings allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits. Spurgeon pitched the last inning allowing one run on two hits.
The Tigers extended their streak to three with the sweep and climbed to seventh in the standing, percentage points behind UAPB for sixth with 12 conference games remaining on the schedule.

- 6th inning - Morris reached on an error by 1b; Anderson scored; Amaral scored. Trey Rutledge flied out to cf to left center, RBI; Kenny Glover advanced to second; Victoriano advanced to third; Morris scored, unearned. Kylen Duncan grounded out to ss, RBI; Victoriano scored, unearned, Alabama A&M 6-5.
- 6th inning - Tate walked, RBI; McCladdie advanced to second; Patty advanced to third; Hull scored. Eichelberger flied out to rf to right center, RBI; Patty scored, Jackson State 7-6.
