LORMAN, Miss. | Jackson State swept the first two games of its Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) series against Alcorn State, winning game one 14-0 followed by a 7-6 victory in the nightcap.
Brandon Haston (3-6) picked up the win the start working 7.0 innings in the run-rule victory in the opener, stiking out six and scattering six hits. The win is his second consecutive in conference play. The Tigers pounded out 12 hits in the win led by Robert Tate Jr. who finishing 3-for-3 with a pair of runs and a pair of RBI. Jordan McCladdie finished 2-for-3 with three runs and Tyshon Patty 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI.
Eric Elliott (5-0) picked up the win in the nightcap allowing two runs on three hits in 6.1 innings with seven strikeouts, and Stevins Spurgeon Jr. picked up his third save working 2.1 innings allowing one run on two hits. Jackson State (22-17, 10-10 SWAC) pounded out 11 hits in the nightcap led by McCladdie who finished 2-for-4 with a run scored. Ledy Alvarez finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, while Arjun Huerta was 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Patty picked up three more hits in the nightcap, finishing 3-for-3.
