LORMAN, Miss. | Erick Gonzalez and two others combined to hold Alcorn State to four hits, sweeping the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) series against Alcorn State with a 9-1 victory on Monday afternoon.

Jackson State (23-17, 11-10 SWAC) captured its second consecutive conference series and extended its winning streak to six in conference play. The Tigers used the arm of Gonzalez (6-3) to jump out to an early lead as the senior held Alcorn State to just two hits in 7.2 innings with 10 strikeouts and just three walks. Shemar Harris logged 1.0 inning allowing one run on two hits before Nkosi Didder came on to log the final out.

The Tigers were able to score nine runs on eights - including three extra-base hits - and 10 others reached via walk or hit by pitch. Anthony Brown finished 2-for-3 on the day with a pair of RBI, while Wilbert Perez added a home run in the ninth innning. Meanwhile, Jordan McCladdie finished 1-for-3 with a run scored and a double, added a pair of stolen bases. Tyshon Patty finished off the week 1-for-4 with a triple, hitting .600 in the three-game series.
