BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Jackson State pitcher Erick Gonzalez was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Pitcher of the Week for his performance against Alabama A&M, announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.

Gonzalez (5-3, 6.87 ERA, 1.70 ERA) logged 8.2 innings in a 2-0 victory over Alabama A&M on Thursday night. He allowed just six hits before exiting after a two-out single in the eighth inning. He also struck out 10 and walked none, giving him a team-high 75 strikeouts on the season.
