BATON ROUGE, La. | Jackson State finished second on the men's side at the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships at A.W. Mumford Stadium on Sunday night while the women finished ninth overall.

The men finished with 125 points, just behind Texas Southern with 136 points, and finished ahead of Alabama State (93) and UAPB (88). Jackson State claimed four individual SWAC championships, including a pair by Andrew Kiplagat. He rose to the top of the medal stand with first-place finishes in the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:04.16 and in the 10000-meter run with 31:28.96. He was joined as a SWAC champion on the men's side by freshman Elijah Blige in the discus throw with a distance of 49.61 meters (162-09.00)

On the women's side, Lilliann Dudley claimed gold in the shot put with a throw of 14.61 meters (47-11.25), winning the event by 0.51 meters.

Several student-athletes reached the medal stand for the Tigers throughout the weekend, including the hurdles and distance events. Fabian Campbell placed third in both the 800-meter run and the 1500-meter run with respective times of 1:51.20 and 3:54.90, the latter a new personal record for him. He was joined by Ivan Donaldson Jr., who earned a third-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 50.88, a new personal record for the Tallahassee native.

Godfrey Kimutai finished second in three different races, including the 5,000-meter run, 10,000-meter run (31:53.43), and 15,000-meter run (3:54.17). His performances earned him SWAC Men's Most Outstanding Track Athlete honors.

In the field events, Ledamian Rowell finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 15.90 meters (52-02.00). Robert Salhab joined Blige in the discus throw with a third-place finish with a heave of 47.34 meters (155-03).
