BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Jackson State pounded out double-digit hits for the second consecutive day at the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Baseball Tournament on its way to a 12-6 victory over Texas Southern in an elimination game on Thursday morning.

Jackson State (30-20) pounded out 13 hits on the day led by Hederick Torres finishing 3-for-3 with three runs scored and a double, Jordan McCladdie finished 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and a pair of RBI, while also adding a pair of doubles and a pair of stolen bases (giving him 49 on the season). Wilbert Perez finished 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI and three runs scored including collecting a double and hitting his seventh home run of the season.

Arjun Huerta finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and Ledy Alvarez 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI. Robert Tate Jr. finished 1-for-4 with his lone hit being his first career home run.

Erick Gonzalez (8-3) got the start and went 6.1 innings allowing one run on just three hits with eight strikeouts on 120 pitches before giving way to Stevins Spurgeon Jr. in top of the seventh inning. Spurgeon went 1.2 innings allowing five runs (none earned) on three hits and Brandon Haston came on for a scoreless ninth with a pair of strikeouts.

• 6th inning - McCladdie doubled to center field, 2 RBI (2-1 KBB); Alvarez scored; Torres scored, Jackson State 6-1.
• 7th inning - Pierre Cabral reached on a fielder's choice to second base, RBI (2-2 BBKF); Arjun Huerta out at second 2b to ss; Perez scored, Jackson State 7-1.
• 8th inning - Edmundo Alanis reached on a dropped fly by lf (1-1 BK); Daylon Carleton advanced to third, scored on the error, unearned; Flores scored on the error. Evan Joubert singled to left field, RBI (0-1 K); Alex Diaz advanced to second; Alanis scored, unearned. Hughes doubled to left center, out at third cf to 1b, 2 RBI (1-1 FB); Joubert scored, unearned; Diaz scored, unearned, Jackson State 7-6.
• 8th inning - Tate walked, RBI (3-0 BBBB); McCladdie advanced to second; Tyshon Patty advanced to third; Torres scored. Perez reached on a fielder's choice to second base, RBI (0-2 KK); Tate out at second 2b to ss; McCladdie advanced to third, scored on a throwing error by ss, unearned; Patty scored. Cabral doubled down the lf line, 2 RBI (3-2 KBFBFB); Huerta scored; Perez scored, Jackson State 12-6.
