Tigers Fall at Kentucky in Season Opener

LEXINGTON, Ky.| The Jackson State soccer team opened its 2025 campaign on the road Thursday evening, falling 4–0 to Kentucky at the Bell Soccer Complex. Despite a strong early showing at the goalie position from Valentina Goodloe, the Tigers were unable to overcome the Wildcats' sustained offensive pressure.

Kentucky (1–0–0) struck first in the 8th minute when Anna Sikorski converted from close range. Sikorski doubled the Wildcats' lead in the 20th minute with a penalty kick. Goodloe kept the scoreline respectable through the first half, registering five saves against 16 Kentucky shots.

In the second half, the Wildcats extended their lead to 3–0 in the 57th minute with a goal from Thalia Morisi, assisted by Alexis Tylenda. Tylenda then added a goal of her own in the 64th minute, finishing a pass from Tanner Strickland to seal the 4–0 result.

Jackson State (0–1–0) recorded one shot on goal, taken by sophomore midfielder Malayah Nuestro in the 81st minute, but Kentucky goalkeeper Megan Holland made the stop to preserve the shutout.
