Tigers fall to Alabama A&M

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | Daeshun Ruffin recorded his first double-double of the season, leading four players in double figures in a 100-91 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) loss to Alabama A&M at the AAMU Events Center on Monday night.

Ruffin finished the night with a career-high 39 points and 10 assists, his second career double-double. He finished the night shooting 44.8 (13-of-29) percent from the floor with a pair of three-pointers, and also shot 91.7 (11-of-12) percent from the free throw line. He was joined in double figures by Tamarion Hoover for the second straight game, scoring 15 off the bench while Dorian McMillian added 14 points and seven rebounds. Meanwhile, Jayme Mitchell Jr. added 11 points and five rebounds for the Tigers.

Jackson State finished the night shooting 44.4 (28-of-63) percent from the floor and 31.4 (11-of-35) percent from beyond the arc. They also finished the night shooting 77.4 (24-of-31) percent from the free throw line. Meanwhile, Alabama A&M finished the night shooting 51.8 (29-of-56) percent from the floor and 32.0 (8-of-25) percent from beyond the arc, while also shooting 79.1 (33-of-43) percent from the free throw line.

Kintavious Dozier led six Alabama A&M players in double figures with 31 points.

Inside the Numbers
The Tigers shot 42.9 (12-of-28) percent from the floor and 38.1 (8-of-21) percent from beyond the arc to take a 40-36 ;ead at the half. They also finished the half shooting 57.1 (8-pf-14) percent from the free throw line. Meanwhile, Alabama A&M shot 46.2 (16-of-29) percent from the floor and 30.0 (3-of-10) percent from beyond the arc in the opening half. They also finished the half shooting 81.1 (9-of-11) percent from the free throw line.

Jackson finished the second half shooting 45.7 (16-of-35) percent from the floor and 21.4 (3-of-14) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 94.1 (16-of-17) percent from the free throw line in the second half. Meanwhile, Alabama A&M finished the second half shooting 56.7 (17-of-30) percent from the floor and 33.3 (5-of-15) percent from beyond the arc. They also finished the half shooting 78.1 (25-of-32) percent from the free throw line.
