DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. | Jackson State dropped an 85-48 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) contest to Bethune-Cookman on Saturday inside Moore Gymnasium despite a double-digit effort from Daeshun Ruffin.
Ruffin finished with 19 points and six assists to lead Jackson State (5-14, 4-2 SWAC), the 16th game that the senior has scored in double figures this season. He has scored in double figures in the last 10 games, and 12 of the last 13, while also recording six or more assists in eight of the last nine games.Â
Jackson State finished the day shooting 25.4 (17-of-67) percent from the floor and 17.2 (5-of-29) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 90.0 (9-of-10) percent from the free throw line, while Bethune-Cookman finished the night shooting 44.8 (30-of-67) percent from the floor. The Wildcats also shot 31.8 (7-of-22) percent from beyond the arc and 81.8 (18-of-22) percent from the free throw line.
Doctor Bradley led four Bethune-Cookman players in double figures with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
Inside the Numbers
The Tigers shot 28.1 (9-of-32) percent from the floor and 25.0 (4-of-16) percent from beyond the arc, while hitting all seven of their free throw attempts. Meanwhile, Bethune-Cookman 45.7 (16-of-35) percent from the floor and 38.5 (5-of-13) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 73.3 (11-of-15) percent from three throw line.
Jackson State led early in the contest (9-8) and by as many as five (7-2) before Bethune-Cookman took the lead with 14:49 left to play in the first half.Â
Jackson State shot 22.9 (8-of-35) percent from the floor and just 7.7 (1-of-13) percent from beyond the arc in the second half. They also shot 66.7 (2-of-3) percent from the free throw line, while Bethune-Cookman finished the second half shooting 43.8 (14-of-32) percent from the floor. The Wildcats also shot 22.2 (2-of-9) percent from beyond the arc and 100.0 (7-of-7) percent from the free throw line.
