Jackson State Falls to Alabama A&M

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.| The Jackson State women's basketball team got a 38-point performance from the bench, but fell 69-59 to the Alabama A&M Bulldogs on the road Thursday.

The Tigers had two players score in double figures, led by Pierre-Noelle Tcheuhchoua, who had 16 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Angel Wilkinson added 11 points and two steals off the bench and Skyler Christmas added six points and two steals.

Jackson State forced 19 Alabama A&M turnovers. The Lady Tigers turned those takeaways into 13 points on the offensive end of the floor. Tcheuhchoua's two steals led the way for Jackson State.

How It Happened

  • Jackson State (2-12, 0-2 SWAC) struggled out of the gate, falling behind 13-6 at the end of the first quarter.
  • Alabama A&M kept adding to that lead, building a 32-15 advantage before JSU went on a 7-0 run, highlighted by a bucket from Jada Patton, to narrow its deficit to 32-22.
  • The Bulldogs responded and expanded its lead, leaving the Tigers trailing 36-25 heading into halftime.
  • Jackson State and Alabama A&M both put up 17 points in the third quarter, keeping the deficit even at 53-42 entering the fourth.
  • JSU's bench made the most of its minutes in the period, as non-starters totaled 10 of the team's 17 third-quarter points.
  • Alabama A&M kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing a 55-42 advantage before Jackson State went on a 7-0 run to shrink the deficit to 55-49 with 6:30 to go in the contest.
  • AAMU responded and outscored the Tigers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 69-59.
  • Jackson State fired away from deep in the quarter, knocking down three shots to account for nine of its 17 points.
