PEARL, Miss. | Jackson State dropped its season opener 10-4 to Prairie View A&M in non-conference action at Trustmark Park on the first day of the MLB HBCU Power Series on Friday night.
Jackson State (0-1) was picked up eight hits on the night with Isaac McClenty picking up a pair of those hits with two RBI, while Tyree Reed also picked up a pair of hits including a two-run double in the ninth.
Kade Walker (0-1) suffered the loss in the start, working 1.1 innings and allowing six runs on four hits with a pair of strikeouts. He was one of four pitchers used on the night with Trae Burton and Marcus Smith combining to pitch the final 5.0 innings and allowed just one run on three hits. Meanwhile Beau Beaty (1-0) recorded the win for Prairie View A&M allowing one run on three hits, while striking out five, giving way to Isaac Herrera who picked up the save, working the final 4.0 innings.

- 7th inning (top) - Ham singled to left field, RBI; Duson advanced to third; Burroughs scored, Prairie View A&M 10-1.
