COMMERCE, Texas | The Jackson State Tigers were not able to notch a run against Missouri State pitcher Emily Koranda on Friday and were shut out 8-0 by the Bears.
Sophomore Jorgina Gant (0-1) got the ball to start for Jackson State and took the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Jackson State (4-2) did not advance a runner past second base in the game. The Tigers went 0-for-1 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the fourth, when Jace Jackson made it into scoring position with two outs.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Jackson State pitchers faced 32 Missouri State hitters in the game, allowing six ground balls and six fly balls while striking out three.
- Jackson led the Tigers at the plate, going 1 for 2 with a double.
- Missouri State was led offensively by Mya January, who went 1 for 2 with a home run and two RBIs.

- Brooklyn Morris was a bright spot for the Tigers, coming out of the bullpen and throwing four innings, giving up two runs, all earned, on four hits, with no walks and one strikeout.
- Gipson's three-hit day led the Tigers offensively.
- Jace Jackson furnished a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs.Â
- Meah Almaraz also chipped in for JSU, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate while adding an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Tigers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with two runs in the top of the first inning.
- Jackson State picked up a pair of runs in the frame.
- The Redhawks then tied the ballgame at two before the Tigers came back to reclaim their advantage in the second inning, which brought the score to 5-2 in favor of the Tigers.
- Jackson State's lead had evaporated once the fifth inning came around and turned into a 7-5 Southeast Missouri State advantage, when the Tigers cut that deficit to 7-6.
- JSU was unable to get any closer, as Southeast Missouri State added two runs to their tally on the way to a 9-6 final.

- Gipson led the Tigers, picking up three hits in the ballgame.
- Jackson State's highest scoring inning was the second, when it pushed three runs across.
