LORMAN, Miss. | Jackson State fell to Alcorn State 83-65 in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play at the Davey L. Whitney Complex on Saturday afternoon.

Jackson State (9-18, 8-6 SWAC) was led by Daeshun Ruffin with 21 points and three assists. He was joined in double figures by Dionjahe Thomas with 14 points, Jayme Mitchell Jr. with 13, and Jalen Tatum with 10 off the bench.

Jackson State finished the night shooting 38.9 (21-of-54) percent from the floor and 19.0 (4-of-21) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 73.1 (19-of-26) percent from the free throw line, while Alcorn State finished the night shooting 41.4 (24-of-58) percent from the floor. They also shot 27.3 (6-of-22) percent from beyond the arc and 76.3 (29-of-38) percent from the free throw line.

Tycen McDaniels led Alcorn State (7-19, 6-8 SWAC) with 25 points and 14 rebounds.

Inside the Numbers
Jackson State shot 35.7 (10-of-28) percent from the floor in the opening half, but just 18.2 (2-of-11) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 75.0 (12-of-16) percent from the free throw line, while Alcorn State shot 36.0 (9-of-25) percent from the floor. The Braves also shot 27.3 (3-of-11) percent from beyond the arc and 68.4 (13-of-19) percent from the free throw line.

The Tigers ended the night shooting 42.3 (11-of-26) percent from the floor in the second half and 20.0 (2-of-10) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 70.0 (7-of-10) percent from the free throw line while Alcorn State shot 45.5 (15-of-33) percent from the floor. The Braves also shot 27.3 (3-of-11) percent from beyond the arc and 84.2 (16-of-19) percent from the free throw line.
