HOUSTON, Texas | Jackson State dropped its third straight road game in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), falling to Texas Southern 82-57 at the H&PE Arena on Saturday night.
Daeshun Ruffin led Jackson State (9-20, 8-8), who played without two starters, with 15 points and three assists connecting on 80.0 (8-of-10) percent from the free throw line. He was joined in double figures by Jayme Mitchell Jr. with 14 points off the bench.Â
Jackson State finished the night shooting 27.3 (18-of-66) percent from the floor and 20.6 (7-of-34) percent from beyond the arc, They also shot 66.7 (14-of-21) percent from the free throw line, while Texas Southern finished the night shooting 52.6 (30-of-57) percent from the floor and 42.1 (8-of-19) percent from beyond the arc. They also finished the night shooting 82.4 (14-of-17) percent from the free throw line.
Zaire Hayes led five Texas Southern (12-16, 10-7 SWAC) players in double figures with 17.

Jackson State finished the first half shooting 29.4 (10-of-34) percent from the floor and 27.8 (5-of-18) percent from beyond the arc. They also finished the half shooting 83.3 (5-of-6) percent from the free throw line. Meanwhile, Texas Southern finished the half shooting 46.7 (14-of-30) percent from the floor and 45.5 (5-of-11) percent from beyond the arc. They also finished the half hitting all four of its free throws.
The Tigers shot 25.0 (8-of-32) percent from the floor in the second half and just 12.5 (2-of-16) percent from beyond the arc, while also shooting 60.0 (9-of-15) percent from the free throw line. Meanwhile, Texas Southern shot 59.3 (16-of-27) percent from the floor and 37.5 (3-of-8) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 76.9 (10-of-13) percent from the free throw line.
