HAMMOND, La. | Southeastern's Hallie Burns, Celia Lamkin and Tyler Oubre combined to throw a shutout on Tuesday as the Lions blanked Jackson State Tigers 9-0.
Jorgina Gant (4-3) got the ball to start for Jackson State and took the loss. Offensively, the Tigers were led by Ka'Liyah Gipson, who went 1-for-2 on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jackson State (11-12, 3-2 SWAC) did not advance a runner past second base in the game.
- The Tigers went 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the second, when Aaliysah Gomez made it into scoring position with one out.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Gant faced 24 SELU hitters in the game, allowing five ground balls and three fly balls while striking out two.
- The Lions was led offensively by senior Cydnee Schneider, who went 2 for 3 with two doubles and two RBIs.
- Burns led the Lions pitching staff, throwing three scoreless innings.
