JACKSON, Miss. | Jace Jackson racked up four RBIs to help power the Jackson State softball team past Bethune-Cookman 10-3 at home on Friday.
Jackson went 3-for-4 with two doubles in addition to her four RBIs for the Tigers. Beija Allen put together a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 1-for-1 with a home run and three RBIs. Ka'Liyah Gipson also chipped in for Jackson State, putting together three hits in four trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jackson State trailed 1-0 in the first inning when they first put runs on the board.
- JSU got on the board thanks to Jackson's RBI double with one out.
- The score stayed at 1-1 until the very next inning, when the Tigers put runs on the scoreboard once again.
- The Jackson State offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a two-run double off the bat of Jackson and a two-run single from Mackenzie Barney, which brought the Tigers lead to 4-1.
- Bethune-Cookman narrowed Jackson State's lead to 4-3 before the Tigers stretched the advantage to 5-3 in the fourth inning.
- The Tigers scored once on an RBI single off the bat of .
- Jackson State held the Wildcats scoreless before building on their lead in the sixth inning.
