JACKSON, Miss. | Jackson State dropped the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) series opener to Prairie View A&M 9-0 at Braddy Field on Friday night.
Jackson State (10-13, 1-3 SWAC) and Prairie View A&M were deadlocked through four in a scoreless tie until the Panthers were able to get on the board in the top of the fifth, and never trailed from that point. Jackson State was held to three hits in the loss with Robert Tate Jr., Wilbert Perez, and Hederick Torres each picking up a hit.
Derek Arrocha (1-2) suffered the loss working 6.0 innings in the loss, allowing five runs (three earned) on seven hits with eight strikeouts.Â

- 6th inning (top) - Corie Lockette singled through the right side, RBI (0-1 F); Ryland Duson scored. Jackson singled to center field, RBI (1-1 BK); Moses advanced to third; Corie Lockette scored. Basilio Williams flied out to lf to left center, sacrifice fly, RBI (0-1 F); Moses scored; Prairie View A&M 5-0.
- 7th inning (top) - Lockette walked, RBI (3-2 SFBBFFBB); Duson advanced to second; Tyvon Moore advanced to third; Michael Burroughs scored. Lawson walked, RBI (3-1 BBSBB); Lockette advanced to second; Duson advanced to third; Moore scored; Prairie View A&M 7-0.
- 8th inning (top) - Moore doubled down the lf line, RBI (1-2 KFB); Burroughs scored; Prairie View A&M 8-0.
