STARKVILLE, Miss. | Collins Kibet led the Jackson State track and field teams at the Marron and White Tune Up over the weekend in the regular season finale, after winning the first event of his career in the 5k.
The freshman from Eldoret, Kenya, clocked in with a time of 15:06.58 to take first place. Duncan Koima followed behind Kibet, finishing with a time of 15:19.70.
Rickey Green III capped off a phenomenal regular season with a second-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles, setting a new personal best time of 14.18. Jaime Henderson Jr. placed third in the 400-meter hurdles, coming in at 56.31.
In the field events,
Jared Lockhart finished third in the first meet of his college career, throwing for a distance of 51.68 meters in the javelin event. Sophomore
Micah O'Daniel leaped for 14.21 meters in the triple jump for third place.
On the women's side,
Lorine Jelagat led the way for the distance crew, setting a new personal best in the 3k steeplechase with a time of 12:07.26.
Malayna Mallory finished second in the hammer throw with a distance of 50.72 meters.
Nedgine Morancy rounded up the top-three finishes, as she came in third in the triple jump with a 12.06-meter leap.

The Tigers will now prepare for the SWAC Outdoor Championship in Baton Rouge, La., on May 10-12.
