ATLANTA, Ga. | Jackson State men's and women's tennis teams wrapped up a successful weekend at the 25th annual HBCU National Championships, with the Tigers bringing home multiple individual awards, including a doubles championship for Ching Chang Chiu and Devesh Sarawanan.

Chiu and Sarawanan captured the Flight B doubles championship Saturday morning, defeating North Carolina Central's Pol Puig Montiel and Leo Fortier-Gariepy, 6-2, on Court 14. The Jackson State duo battled through teams from Alabama State, Alabama A&M and North Carolina Central on their way to the doubles crown.

On the women's side, the Tigers collected two third-place finishes, with Polina Georgieva and Helen Hernandez earning victories in their respective playoff matches.

Georgieva defeated Alabama A&M's Nardine Salem, 6-1, 6-1, in the Flight B singles third-place match. Hernandez followed with a hard-fought 7-6, 7-5 victory over Alabama A&M's Rim Assanhaj in the Flight C playoff.

Freshman Angel Hernandez rounded out Jackson State's trophy winners with a fourth-place finish in Flight B singles. Hernandez battled North Carolina Central's Adrian Matei Nedelcu in a competitive playoff match before falling 6-4, 6-4.
