JACKSON, Miss. | Jackson State delivered a clinical attacking performance Sunday afternoon, scoring four times on five shots on goal to defeat Middle Tennessee, 4-1, at the JSU Soccer Complex.
After nearly 42 scoreless minutes, India Wilson broke through for the Tigers at the 42:25 mark. Ryanne Hawthorn-Harper supplied the assist as Jackson State carried a 1-0 advantage into halftime.
The Tigers quickly seized control after the break. Hawthorn-Harper doubled the lead in the 48th minute with her fourth goal of the season before Malayah Nuestro made it 3-0 in the 60th minute with her first goal of the year.
Middle Tennessee answered less than a minute later, but Jackson State quickly restored its three-goal advantage. Mia Ortega found the back of the net in the 65th minute for her third goal of the season, completing the scoring and sealing the Tigers' second consecutive victory.
Goalkeeper Taylor Osborn anchored Jackson State's defensive effort with 13 saves, including eight in the second half. The Tigers improved to 3-6 overall with the win.
