FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. | Jackson State continued its challenging non-conference slate Friday evening, battling Arkansas for 90 minutes before falling 5-0 at Razorback Field.
Facing an aggressive Razorback attack on the road, the Tigers continued to compete throughout the match and showed increased offensive pressure after halftime.
Arkansas opened the scoring in the 13th minute before adding another goal less than four minutes later. The Razorbacks extended the advantage to 3-0 in the 39th minute, sending Jackson State into the halftime break facing a three-goal deficit.
Despite the early pressure, goalkeeper Kianah Farmer delivered a busy performance in net for the Tigers. Farmer played all 90 minutes and finished with eight saves, including five in the opening half, as Jackson State worked to withstand 33 Arkansas shot attempts.
Jackson State came out of halftime looking to create more opportunities going forward. The Tigers recorded three of their four shots during the second half and forced Arkansas goalkeeper Emily Jenkins into a pair of saves during that stretch.
Kaila Tablado put an attempt on frame in the 68th minute, followed just minutes later by Mia Ortega, whose shot in the 71st minute also forced a save.
The Tigers continued pushing forward late in the contest, with Karime Antonio-Lopez producing Jackson State's final attempt in the 84th minute.
Arkansas added second-half goals in the 76th and 86th minutes to close the scoring.
Jackson State finished the night with four shots, three shots on goal and two corner kicks. Elon Sheffield, Tablado and Ortega each placed a shot on target, while Antonio-Lopez also recorded an attempt.
The Tigers leave Fayetteville with another demanding non-conference test under their belts as they continue preparing for the remainder of the season.
