GAME 5 RECAP
The Jackson State men's basketball team fell to Bradley on Thursday night in non-conference play by a final score of 83-60. The Tigers had two players that scored 20+ in the contest with Tristan Jarrett and Jayveous McKinnis pacing the way with 22 and 21 points scored on the night each. Bradley controlled the game from the beginning, jumping out to a 22-13 lead in the first ten minutes of play. Bradley took a 42-27 lead into the break. The Braves went on outscore the Tigers 41-33 in the second half to ultimately defeat Jackson State by a final score of 83-60. McKinnis came just short of his third consecutive double-double, finishing with 21 points and 9 rebounds. McKinnis also had two steals and one block. Tristan Jarrett had a team high 22 points on the night. Jarrett also had five rebounds and a team best four steals. Ken Evans finished 3-of-6 for nine points in 27-minutes of action. As a team, the Tigers shot 21-of-56 from the field with 28 team rebounds and 24 points in the paint.

Iowa State looks to snap a four-game skid Sunday as it bounces back into nonconference action. A valiant effort came up short at No. 8 West Virginia Friday evening as the Cyclones fell to the Mountaineers, 70-65, despite leading the majority of the game. Rasir Bolton is the only player nationally averaging at least 15.0 points, 6.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals ... in the last three games, Bolton is averaging 20.7 points, 5.3 assists and shooting 57.5 percent from the field. Bolton ranks among the Big 12 leaders in a number of categories: first in FG percentage, third in scoring, third in assists, tied for fourth in steals and first in minutes played. Bolton has been in double figures in his last 11 games. Iowa State is third in the Big 12 Conference shooting 47.4 percent from the field this season ... the Cyclone starting five is shooting 50 percent from the field as a group. Jalen Coleman-Lands, who connected on his 250th career 3-pointer on Friday night, has made 10 of his last 18 3-point attempts in the last three games ... the graduate transfer is tied for second in the Big 12 Conference connecting on 3.0 three-pointers per game, while also ranking fourth in 3-point percentage at 42.9 percent.

Steve Prohm was named the 20th head men's basketball coach at Iowa State on June 8, 2015. Prohm enters his sixth season at the healm of the program. He was the 2012 Basketball Times National Coach of the Year and coached All-American Georges Niang to the 2015 Karl Malone Award. Has seven wins vs. Top-10 foes, including the school's second-ever win against the nation's No. 1-rated team (Oklahoma, 2016). 11 of his former players have made NBA rosters ... Nine players have been drafted.

The Tigers have produced two 10+ point scorers on the season with Tristan Jarrett leading the way with 16.0 points scored per game. Jarrett also leads the team with nine steals and is averaging 5.0 rebounds per game. In three games this season, Jayveous McKinnis has totaled two double-doubles. The Preseason Defensive Player of the Year for the SWAC ranks second on the team with 15.7 points per game and 11 rebounds per game. McKinnis also leads the Tigers with seven blocks on the season. Jayveous McKinnis was tabbed Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. McKinnis averaged 9.3 points per game and led the league in blocks at 1.9 per outing and served as key factor for a JSU defense that ranked second in the league in points allowed per game (67.4 ppg). McKinnis averaged 9.5 points per game and led the league in blocks at 1.9 per outing in 32 total games played. Last season, Jarrett averaged 16.8 points per game ranking second in the conference in that category. He also contributed 3.3 rebounds per game to go along with 1.8 assists per outing in 32 total games played. One of the league's most prolific scorers, Jarrett tallied a minimum of twenty-points in 11 games last season while eclipsing the thirty-point mark twice during the regular season in back-to-back outings. Jarrett was also tabbed as a Preseason All-SWAC First Team selection.
