The Jackson State University bowling team will compete against a field of nationally-ranked teams this weekend in the Colonial Lanes Classic hosted by Tulane.
The event begins Friday at 10 a.m. in Harahan, La., with Saturday and Sunday's action scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Live stats are available at gojsutigers.com.
The host Green Wave is ranked #17 in the country and is one of seven teams in the National Tenpin Coaches Association Top 25 playing in this event. Additional ranked teams in the field include #4 Sam Houston St., #5 Stephen F. Austin, #7 North Carolina A&T, #8 Louisiana Tech, #14 Maryland Eastern Shore, and #24 Lincoln Memorial.
Also joining Jackson State in this event are SWAC foes Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Florida A&M, Prairie View, Southern, and Texas Southern, along with UAB.
The Lady Tigers are coming off a fourth-place finish in the FAMU Invitational last weekend. Jackson State went 6-7 in the event, averaging 183.1 pins per match. JSU had a pair of players in the Top 15 in scoring in the 5-match traditional format.
Catalina Tovar placed 13
th with a 192.2 average that featured a pair of 200+ games (215, 213). Marianna Viveros finished 15
th with a 189.0 scoring average that also included a pair of 200+ games (220, 202).
