Tennis Teams Split Matches On Final Day Of SWAC Roundup

The Jackson State University women's and men's tennis teams battled to a split decision here on Sunday during the final day of the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tennis POD 1 Roundup.

In women's competition at the JSU Tennis Center, the Lady Tigers defeated the ASU Lady Hornets 4-0 to remain unbeaten in conference play with records of 3-0 in the league and 4-2 overall.  The Lady Hornets dropped to 1-1 in the SWAC and 2-4 overall.
 
Alabama State defeated the JSU men's team 4-0, sporting an unblemished mark of their own in the SWAC at 2-0, 2-3 overall.  JSU fell to 1-3 overall and 1-1 with the loss.
 
In other final day women's action during the SWAC Tennis POD 1 roundup, Prairie View A&M defeated Mississippi Valley State 7-0, increasing its season record to 2-10, 2-1 in the SWAC.  MVSU remained winless with records of 0-3 overall and in the conference.
 
Alabama A&M's women's team kept Bethune-Cookman winless on the season, defeating the Lady Wildcats 5-0.  AAMU is now 2-0 in the SWAC and 2-4 overall, while B-CU stands at 0-4 in the SWAC and 0-5 overall.
 
The Lady Rattlers of Florida A&M upped their record to 2-1 in the conference and 3-7 overall after defeating Grambling State 4-1.  The Lady Tigers are now 0-2 in the SWAC and 0-6 overall.
 
The day's only other action was a men's match between the Prairie View A&M Panthers and the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils  PVAM defeated the Delta Devils 4-0, gaining its first victory in 14 tries.  The Panthers now stand at 1-1 in the SWAC, 1-13 overall.  MVSU dropped to 0-2 overall and in the conference.
 
All of Sunday's matches were contested at the JSU Tennis Center.
