STARKVILLE, Miss. - The Jackson State University Tigers put up a valiant effort against the No. 22-ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs tennis team on Sunday but fell to the Bulldogs 6-1 at the MSU Tennis Courts.
In the doubles competition, the JSU duo of

Juan Soria defeated Florian Broska/Gregor Ramskogler 7-6 (8-6), but the Bulldogs proceeded to win the next two matchups, as Nemanja Malesevic/Davide Tortora defeated
Agustin Agosto/
Hiromu Ikeda 6-3 and Seth Richey/Bautista Vilicich defeated
Richy Gamo/
Francisco Vargas 7-5.
In the singles competition, MSU won the first five matchups as Nemanja Malesevic defeated JSU's
Francisco Vargas 7-5, 6-4, Bautista Vilicich defeated
Raul Centeno 6-1, 6-2, Gregor Ramskogler defeated
Juan Soria 6-1, 6-2, Alberto Colas defeated
Agustin Agosto 6-0, 6-0, and Davide Tortora defeated
Hiromu Ikeda 6-1, 6-3. The bright spot in singles came when JSU's
Richy Gamo defeated MSU's Seth Richey 7-5, 5-7, 1-0 (10-5).
Jackson State (1-4) will return to action on Friday, March 4, as both the Tigers and Lady Tigers battle in-state rival Alcorn State at 2 p.m. in Lorman, Miss.
