Lady Tigers fall in 3-set sweep to Samford

BIRMINGHAM, AL --The Jackson State volleyball team lost to the Samford Bulldogs in three sets (23-25, 22-25, 22-25) Saturday at Bartow Arena.

The non-conference loss moved Jackson State to 1-6 on the season.

The Lady Tigers were led by a double-double from Alexis Williams, who registered 13 kills and 13 digs on the day. Nevaeh Bray also added seven kills to help the offense. On the defensive end, Alana Washington chipped in for with 11 digs to go with two blocks from Jordan Jones.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Lady Tigers found themselves in an early deficit, dropping a close first set 25-23. Samford grabbed the advantage for good at 23-22 in a set that was tied up 10 times before the Bulldogs took over in the second half of the stanza.

SET 2 | A 25-22 set-two loss put Jackson State behind two sets to none in the match. The Lady Tigers rallied from a seven-point 17-10 hole, but Samford held on to take the set.

SET 3 | Jackson State was not able to win the third set and was swept by Samford. The Lady Tigers came up short by the score of 25-22. Samford grabbed the advantage for good at 11-10 in a set that was tied up five times before the Bulldogs took over the lead.
