Volleyball Set to Compete at Mississippi Valley

ITTA BENA, Miss.| After opening conference play at home, the Jackson State volleyball team is hitting the road to Itta Bena to take on Mississippi Valley State to continue its 2022 SWAC campaign.

Jackson State (2-11, 1-1 SWAC) opened the weekend hosting Alabama State last Friday. The Tigers fell 3-0 in the conference opener. JSU returned to the Lee E. Williams Athletic and Assembly Center Sunday to face Alabama A&M. The Tigers swept the Bulldogs to secure their first SWAC win of the season. Alexis Williams led the Tigers' offense in the win against AAMU with 15 kills. Williams also listed 19 digs and two aces. Freshman setter, Karys Dove, registered 25 assists for the Tigers.

Mississippi Valley (1-10, 0-2 SWAC) opened conference play Sunday and Monday against Alabama State and Alabama A&M in Itta Bena. The Delta Devils fell 3-0 in both matches. Mississippi Valley's first win this season comes from a matchup with Tougaloo at the Tougaloo Tri-Match at Kroger Gymnasium in Jackson, Miss. Tomorrow's matchup will tip off at 7 p.m.

Jackson State will host Louisiana Tech in its final nonconference matchup of the season at the Lee E. Williams Athletic and Assembly Center on Wednesday. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
