JACKSON, Miss. – The Jackson State University bowling team will open the spring portion of its 2022-23 schedule at the first of two Southwestern Athletic Conference roundups this weekend in D'Iberville, Miss.
Jackson State is one of eight SWAC teams that compete in the sport of bowling and will open play Friday and Saturday at 10 a.m. and Sunday at 9 a.m. at Cypress Lanes. Admission is free and open to the public. The second roundup will be played February 3-5, also in D'Iberville.
Records from both roundups will determine the Southwestern Athletic Conference regular-season champion and all-conference performers. Only the top six teams will qualify for the SWAC Championship Tournament March 24-26 in Arlington, Texas.
"The roundups are a unique format where we will only play traditional games Friday, Saturday, and Sunday," said Jackson State bowling coach
Dr. Michael Boykins. "With five games Friday and Saturday and four on Sunday, it is imperative that the athletes are extremely focused and prepared."
The Jackson State women posted four wins over nationally-ranked teams during the fall, with victories over No. 4 Sam Houston St., No. 17 Tulane twice, and No. 24 Lincoln Memorial.
