ARLINGTON, Texas – The Jackson State University bowling team came up just short in a heartbreaking loss Saturday in the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament at the International Training and Research Center.
The sixth-seeded Lady Tigers opened Saturday play with a three-match win over #4 Texas Southern. JSU won in the team format 924-921 before losing in the Baker format 911-854. JSU then beat TSU 4-1 in Baker format best-of-seven to advance.
Juliana Rincon's 219 game and
Faith Washington's 194 were the top individual performances in team play.
Jackson State's tourney run ended later in the day with a close loss to #3 Prairie View A&M 895-869 in team play and 867-857 in Baker format. In team play, Rincon's 193, Maria Jose Jaramillo's 189, and Washington's 185 led the Lady Tigers.
