Bowling Finishes Second In TNBA/HBCU Invitational

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga.– The Jackson State bowling team had its best finish of the season, earning second place in the TNBA/HBCU Invitational Tournament at Southern Lanes.
 
JSU defeated Alabama State (821-819), Grambling (824-725), and Norfolk State (903-861) in the traditional team format play on Saturday and earned the top seed based on pin total to move into the championship bracket on Sunday.
 
In Sunday's Baker format best-of-seven action, the Lady Tigers beat Alabama State 4-1 to advance to the championship match. However, JSU fell to Alabama State 4-1 in the final.
 
A trio of Jackson State players made the All-Tournament team. Juliana Rincon and Catalina Tovar each earned first-team honors, while Faith Washington earned second-team accolades. Rincon's 189.2 average was the third-highest based on Saturday's play in the traditional format, while Tovar's 187.0 ranked fifth. Washington's 183.8 ranked eighth among the field of over 50 competitors.
 
Jackson State will play in its final event before the SWAC Championship on March 17-19 at Vanderbilt.
