Box Score 2 NEW ORLEANS, La.| The Jackson State men's and women's tennis teams fell short in the 2023 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Championship title matches Sunday afternoon. The women fell 4-2 to Florida A&M and the men fell 4-0 to Alabama State.
Jackson State women's tennis fought hard for the doubles point as
Tyra-Nicole Whyte and
Robin Alston defeated Reagan Harris and Genesis Whitelock 6-2.
Isabela Benavides and
Zeina Shabaan lost their doubles matchup 6-3.
Paula Arcarons and
Daniela Ramos battled to the end but fell 7-6 in their matchup that ended in a back and forth tiebreaker.Â
In singles competition,
Tyra-Nicole Whyte overcame Sara Rakim for the 7-5, 6-3 win.
Daniela Ramos took out Whitelock for the 6-, 6-4 singles victory.
Paula Arcarons nearly pulled off her singles matchup, but went unfinished against Veronica Rodriguez as FAMU sealed the 4-2 win in the title match.

Tyra-Nicole Whyte were named to the SWAC Women's Tennis All Tournament Team.
The Jackson State men's tennis team faced a tough opponent in Alabama State as they vied for the title.

Carlos Castillo fell is their doubles matches, 6-1 as ASU took the doubles point. Alabama State went on to sweep the singles competition as JSU fell in the title matchup, 4-0.
