CLINTON, Miss. – The two-time defending Southwestern Athletic Conference Champion Jackson State men's cross country team, as well as the women's team, competed Friday in the season-opening meet at Mississippi College.
 
A full squad of JSU men ran in at the 5K distance, with personal bests finishes leading the way. Senior 
Jeremiah Hudson was the top JSU finisher with a personal-best time of 17:34, followed by junior 
Caleb Crutcher's personal-best time of18:13.
 
A trio of Tigers making their debuts came across the line next for JSU. Freshman 
Derrick Eskridge finished with a time of 18:21, just ahead of junior 
Ber'Narjay Jackson with a time of 18:26.  Sophomore 
Dominic Turner was the fifth finisher for JSU with at time of 19:25.
 
The Lady Tigers had one athlete in the field, with freshman 
Kaylin Jackson posting a time of 22:06 in her collegiate debut.
 
JSU will return to action Sept. 16 at Louisiana Monroe.
