JONESBORO, Ark. | Jackson State returns to action on Thursday night for the ninth consecutive time on the road, facing Arkansas State at First National Bank Arena.

Jackson State enters looking for its first win of the season following a 74-66 loss to Saint Louis on the road Monday night, and looks to repeat last season when it defeated Arkansas State 75-70 in Jonesboro. 

Jayme Mitchell Jr. leads Jackson State in scoring at 13.1 points per game on 38.5 (35-of-91) percent shooting from the floor and 38.0 (19-of-50) percent from beyond the arc. He is also shooting 72.7 (16-of-22) percent from the free throw line and has grabbed an average of 4.4 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Dorian McMillian, the reigning Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Newcomer of the Week, is averaging 9.6 points per game on 37.2 (29-of-78) percent shooting from the floor and dishing out 1.3 assists per game.

Romelle Mansel is averaging 8.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.

Daeshun Ruffin suited up for the first time in a Jackson State uniform on Monday night against Saint Louis after missing all of last season and the first seven games of this season. He responded with 10 points and a pair of assists in the loss.

McMillian and Mitchell have both won awards this season from the conference office, with Mitchell earning SWAC Impact Player of the Week (week two) and McMillian being named SWAC Newcomer of the Week (week three).

Keiveon Hunt returned to action on Monday night against Saint Louis after leaving the season-opener against then-No. 4 Houston early.

The two teams have met 14 times in school history with Arkansas State holding a 10-4 advantage. Jackson State's wins came during the 1973, 1993, 1999, and 2023 seasons. The Tigers are 4-2 in Jonesboro and 1-2 on neutral floors.
