AMES, Iowa | Jackson State closes out the week on the road with No. 5/6 Iowa State at Hilton Coliseum on Sunday night with its third game against a top-10 team this season.
The game is set to tip at 5 p.m. on ESPN+.
It will be the fourth meeting all-time between the two teams with Iowa State leading the series 3-0, and the game will be the 10th consecutive road game for the Tigers to open the season following a two-point loss at Arkansas State on Thursday night. The Tigers have faced Houston (No. 4 at the time) and Kentucky (No. 9 at the time) on the road already this season.
Jayme Mitchell Jr. leads Jackson State in scoring at 12.8 points per game on 37.3 (38-of-102) percent shooting from the floor and 36.8 (21-of-57) percent from beyond the arc. He is also shooting 75.0 (18-of-24) percent from the free throw line and has grabbed an average of 4.3 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Dorian McMillian, the reigning Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Newcomer of the Week, is averaging 9.2 points per game on 38.3 (31-of-81) percent shooting from the floor and dishing out 1.1 assists per game.

- Daeshun Ruffin made his long-awaited appearance in a Jackson State uniform against Saint Louis and appeared in the starting lineup in his second consecutive game against Arkansas State, averaging 9.0 points and 2.0 assists per game in those two games. The junior is the first McDonald's All-American at Jackson State and in the conference.
- Shannon Grant grabbed his second double-double of the season against Arkansas State with 16 points and 10 rebounds and enters the game averaging 8.7 points and 5.2 rebounds per game.
- Talk about rebounding, that is exactly what Romelle Mansel did against Arkansas State with a career-high 17 rebounds. He enters the game averaging 8.4 points and a team-high 7.8 rebounds.
- Following the game against Iowa State, the Tigers will play four more road games with three to close out December and one in January to open Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play before they finally play at Lee E. Williams AAC against Alabama State on December 11.
