BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Jackson State enters the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) women's tennis tournament as the No. 3 seed, announced by the conference on Tuesday.

Jackson State (8-1 SWAC) finished in a three-way for the regular season championship with No. 1 seed Florida A&M and No. 2 seed Alabama State who received byes in the opening round and will face No. 5 seed Prairie View A&M in the opening round. The winner advances to the semifinals to face Alabama State.

The two teams met earlier this season with Jackson State winning the match 4-1 in Montgomery (Ala.) at the SWAC Pod. The Tigers clinched the doubles point with a win at No. 2 before winning three singles matches including a win at No. 4 and No. 5 in straight sets.

The other quarterfinal match features No. 4 seed Southern and No. 6 seed Alabama A&M with the winner advancing to face Florida A&M.

The tournament is scheduled to be played April 19-21 at City Park Tennis Center located in New Orleans (La.).
