HOUSTON, Texas | Jackson State fell on the road to its fifth nationally-ranked opponent this season, falling 80-38 to No. 7/8 Houston at the Fertitta Center on Wednesday night in non-conference action.
Jayme Mitchell Jr. led Jackson State (1-8) with 12 points, while Dionjahe Thomas grabbed a season-high seven rebounds. Emanuel Sharp led Houston (9-1) with 23 points, while Isiah Harwell added 20.
Jackson State finished the night shooting 29.5 (13-of-44) percent from the floor and 32.1 (9-of-28) percent from beyond the arc for the game. They also shot 60.0 (3-of-5) percent from the free throw line. Meanwhile, Houston finished the night shooting 47.7 (31-of-65) percent from the floor and 33.3 (11-of-33) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 53.8 (7-of-13) percent from the free throw line for the game.

Jackson State shot 23.8 (5-of-21) percent from the floor and 33.3 (5-of-15) percent from beyond the arc in the first half. They also connected on one of just two free throws in the opening 20 minutes. Meanwhile, Houston finished the first half shooting 48.3 (14-of-29) percent from the floor and 46.7 (7-of-15) percent from beyond the arc in the first half. They also shot 71.4 (5-of-7) percent from the free throw line.
The Tigers shot 34.8 (8-of-23) percent from the floor and 30.8 (4-of-13) percent from beyond the arc, while shooting 66.7 (2-of-3) percent from the free throw line in the second half. Meanwhile, the Cougars shot 47.2 (17-of-36) percent from the floor and 22.2 (4-of-18) percent from beyond the arc in the second half, while shooting 33.3 (2-of-6) percent from the free throw line.
