MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Jackson State shut out Grambling in a 4-0 decision on Thursday afternoon to remain perfect against Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) competition.
The Tigers (8-8, 5-0 SWAC) began the day by winning the doubles point with strong performances by the duos of Paula Corbalan, Zeina Shabaan, Zofia Dziewiecka, and Daniella Tovar. The Corbalan and Shaaban combination defeated their opponents in a quick 6-0 decision, while Dziewiecka and Tovar secured the second win with a 6-1 score at number three.
Shabaan and Dziewiecka carried their momentum into singles play, scoring wins in both matches with respective 6-1, 6-0, and 6-1, 6-2 decisions. Senior Chiara Desia also picked up a singles' win at number six in a 6-1, 6-0 decision, to add another win to the Lady Tigers season.
