MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Jackson State's women's tennis team moved to 5-0 against Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) competition after handing the Florida A&M Rattlers a 4-2 loss on Saturday afternoon.
Victoria Linkovski and
Helen Hernandez earned the first win of the day for the Tigers with a 6-1 doubles win over Larrisa Silva and Genesis Whitlock. After the Rattlers responded with a 6-2 win at number three, they secured the doubles point in a close 6-4 decision at number two.
Paula Corbalan gave the Tigers their first singles win as she defeated Veronica Rodriguez 6-3, 7-5, while
Mariia Iordanova claimed a 6-5, 6-4 victory at number two to give the Tigers the advantage.
Isabella Benavides and
Helen Hernandez closed the deal with 6-4, 6-3, and 6-0, 7-5 wins at their respective courts.
Up Next
The Tigers will travel back to Alabama for their final away match of the season, facing the Alabama A&M Bulldogs on April 4 at 11 a.m.
