HATTIESBURG, Miss. | Sedgwrick Pitts Jr., Andrew Kipalagat, Ledamian Rowell, and the men's 4x100 relay team all earned first-place finishes over the weekend at the Southern Miss Invitational, where the Tigers earned 15 top-five finishes in total.
Pitts Jr. finished first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.26 and second in the 100-meter dash with a 10.54. He was also a part of the first-place men's 4x100 relay team alongside Nakerrius Eppenger, Jyquan Jackson, and Ronald Huddleston, clocking in at 40.52.
Kiplagat earned another first-place finish in the 3000-meter run at 8:33.10. He was joined in the top three by freshman Godfrey Kimutai.
Rowell leaped for another first-place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 14.95 meters. Freshman Elijah Blige recorded a third-place finish in the discus with a heave of 50.34 meters. On the women's side, Lilliann Dudley placed top-three in the hammer throw (50.92 meters) and shot put (14.01 meters). Mylani Galbreath, a Southern Miss transfer, grabbed second place in the long jump at a 6.35-meter leap in her first time back in Hattiesburg.
Jeremiah Hudson placed second in the 3K steeplechase, while Fabian Campbell and Caleb Crutcher placed in the top five in the 800-meter race. Tyjah Edwards also came in third in the 400-meter race.
