JACKSON, Miss. | Daeshun Ruffin recorded his fourth 30-point performance of the season in conference play, leading Jackson State to an 81-78 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) action at the Lee E. Williams AAC on Tuesday night.
Ruffin poured in 38 points for the Tigers, connecting on 37.0 (10-of-27) percent shooting from the floor including four three-pointers, while also hitting 82.4 (14-of-17) percent from the free throw line. The senior also added four rebounds and four assists in the win. He has scored in double figures in all 14 conference games he has played in this season, and has scored in double figures 24 of the 26 games has seen action (18 consecutive).Â
He was joined in double figures by Tamarion Hoover with 11 points on 50.0 (4-of-8) percent shooting from the floor and Jayme Mitchell Jr. with 10 points.
The Tigers finished the night shooting 39.3 (24-of-61) percent from the floor and 33.3 (9-of-27) percent from beyond the arc, while also shooting 80.0 (24-of-30) percent from the free throw line. Meanwhile, Arkansas-Pine Bluff finished the night shooting 47.2 (25-of-53) percent from the floor and 36.8 (7-of-19) percent from beyond the arc. They also finished the night shooting 87.5 (21-of-24) percent from the free throw line.
Quion Williams led four Golden Lions in double figures with 21 points.
Jackson State (10-20, 9-8 SWAC) is tied with Arkansas-Pine Bluff (12-18, 9-8 SWAC) after splitting the season series, and sits just one game behind four teams at 10-7 in conference play with just one game remaining on the schedule.

Jackson State finished the first half shooting 50.0 (16-of-32) percent from the floor and 46.7 (7-of-15) percent from beyond the arc, while also shooting 71.4 (5-of-7) percent from the free throw line. Meanwhile, Arkansas-Pine Bluff finished the first half shooting 54.2 (13-of-24) percent from the floor and 38.5 (5-of-13) percent from beyond the arc. They also connected on all five of their free throws.
Jackson State shot 27.6 (8-of-29) percent from the floor in the second half and 16.7 (2-of-12) percent from beyond the arc, while also shooting 82.6 (19-of-23) percent from the free throw line. Meanwhile, Arkansas-Pine Bluff finished the day shooting 41.4 (12-of-29) percent from the floor and 33.3 (2-of-6) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 84.2 (16-of-19) percent from the free throw line.
