BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Freshmen Ryan Achau and Sya Bodlen each earned Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) weekly awards for their performances at the Mississippi Christian Opener last Friday, announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Achau made a statement in his first collegiate race by winning the men's 5k in 15:05.3. The Baringo, Kenya, native was named SWAC Newcomer of the Week.

Bolden also ran her first collegiate race on Sept. 4, finishing the women's 5k in the top 25. The Lafayette native helped her team claim a top-five finish on the day, earning her SWAC Newcomer of the Week as well.
