LORMAN, Miss. – Jackson State and Alcorn State battled through a five-set thriller, with JSU nearly falling by a score of 25-13, 21-25, 17-25, 25-20, 13-15.
Offensively, JSU (11-21, 9-6 SWAC) was led by
Tielar Richards. The 6-foot-1 senior a team-high 15 kills to go with a .333 attacking percentage.
Camry Dabney added 12 kills.
The Lady Tigers utilized its talented group of setters.
Juniors
Kinly Carter and
Priscilla Sanchez finished with 20 assists, with Sanchez adding 11 digs.
Marina Bianchi Brito helped with six kills, seven digs, one solo block, and three assisted blocks.
From the libero position, senior
Markayshia Masani added 17 digs.
As a team, JSU recorded 52 kills, while Alcorn (9-19, 5-12 SWAC) finished with 51.
JSU returns to action Sunday with a 4 p.m. bout versus Alabama A&M.
