JACKSON, Miss. – The Jackson State women's basketball team travels to southern Texas this weekend for its second Southwestern Athletic Conference road trip of the season.

The Lady Tigers match-up with Prairie View A&M Saturday at 3 p.m. and Monday at Texas Southern, also at 3 p.m.

Last Week JSU went 1-1 and rolled past Alcorn State 88-66 and narrowly lost to Southern 76-74.

Marneisha Hamer posted 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead JSU past Alcorn State 88-66 in the SWAC home opener at the Lee E. Williams Athletic and Assembly Center.

Hamer dropped a game-high 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the setback versus Southern.

Hamer, a 6-foot-1 junior from Memphis has been a dominant player for the Lady Tigers. Hamer is averaging 15.7 points and 5.9 rebounds per game, both of which rank in the top of the SWAC.

Lady Tigers Can Be….Offensive and Defensive

Through the halfway mark of the season JSU has proven it has ability to score the basketball. The Blue and White average 68.3 points per-game, which ranks first in the SWAC. On the flip side, the Lady Tigers are ranked fourth in the SWAC in defense and allow 64.2 points per game. JSU has lost its three conference games by a combined 15 points.
