Tigers Take Hot Streak to Alcorn State Tomorrow Night

JACKSON, Miss. – The Jackson State volleyball team is coming off of a 3-0 sweep over West Alabama in which the Lady Tigers improved to 8-13 overall on the season after Tuesday night's victory.

With a maturing freshman class that has really begun to flourish over the season with more experience, the Lady Tigers enter the SWAC portion of their schedule tomorrow night 4-1 in conference play with a another great opportunity to expound on the teams recent success.

The Blue and White make the trip west to Lorman, Miss. for a showdown with rival Alcorn State (3-14, 1-6 SWAC) beginning at 6 p.m.

SCOUTING ALCORN STATE….
Alcorn State enters tomorrow nights home game 3-14 overall and 1-6 in SWAC play. Their lone wins for the season include a 3-2 victory over Talladega (26-24, 18-25, 21-25, 25-19, 15-11) a 3-0 sweep of MUW (25-15, 25-17, 25-21), and a 3-1 conference win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff (23-25, 25-22, 27-25, 25-17).

The Lady Braves have collected a total of 499 kills in 17 matches this season for an average of 8.8 kills per set. Alcorn is led by Stacey Joseph with a team high 120 kills on 421 total attacks. Joseph is second on the team with 158 assists behind team leader Fiapaipai Losia with 276 total assists.

The Lady Braves are under the direction of first year head coach Melissa Robinson and graduate assistant coach Jhi-Piper-Murles.

The two teams are set to begin tomorrow night at 6 p.m. at Alcorn State.
