JACKSON, Miss. – The Jackson State women's basketball team returns to action Saturday and will match-up with Texas Southern. Last season, the two programs split its regular-season series with each team winning on their home court.

HBCU All-American Marneisha Hamer and Dayzsha Rogan each rank in the top 10 in the conference in points per game. Hamer is fourth and is averaging 14.1 and Rogan ranks seventh with 12.6 points per game.
 
JSU sports the second-ranked offense in the SWAC with 64.4 points per game. The Tigers also rank fourth in the SWAC in defense and allow an average of 67.9 points a game.
 
Hamer and Ameshya Williams both rank in the top five in the conference in rebounds. Williams is hauling in 8.4 and Hamer 6.4 rebounds per game.
 
The Blue and White lead the league with 64 blocks and average of 4.57 denials per game.
 
In the win over Alabama State, Kaisah Lucky had her best performance on the season. The Brooklyn, New York product scored a game-high 18 points and handed out a career-high 11 assists.
 
Sumer Williams and Hamer each recorded a double-double in the win over Alcorn. Williams grabbed a game-high 15 boards and scored 13 points, while Hamer exploded for 24 points and 10 rebounds.
 
The 94 points scored versus Alabama State were the most scored in SWAC play under Coach Reed. The Lady Tigers scored 105 points last season in the non-conference win over Spring Hill.

BATON ROUGE, La. - Ameshya Williams and Dayzsha Rogan went for 14 points each in Monday's 72-51 thrashing against Southern in Baton Rouge.
 
The win was the Lady Tigers' fourth conference win in a row to begin the 2020 SWAC schedule. The Blue and White improved to 6-8 overall and 4-0 in conference play.
 
Williams also provided nine rebounds, eight defensive and one offensive, and four blocks.
 
Three Tigers finished with nine rebounds, Williams, Kaisah Lucky, and Sumer Williams.
 
Lucky and (Sumer) Williams collected 10 points and eight points, respectively.
 
Marneisha Hamer put together a stellar outing against Southern with 11 points and five rebounds.
 
Jackson State, as a team, went 22-of-47 from field-goal territory and 5-of-12 from three-point land.
 
The Lady Tigers outrebounded the Jaguars 35 to 31 and had 28 points in the paint, 33 bench points, and 16 fast-break points.
 
Last Time Versus Texas Southern (Feb. 18, 2019)
 
JACKSON, Miss.  – Jackson State shot 57 percent from the field and dominated Texas Southern 73-64 in Southwestern Athletic Conference action Monday evening at the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center.
 
JSU improved to 11-13 and 7-6 in the SWAC, while TSU falls to 10-13 and 6-6 in the conference.
 
Junior Marneisha Hamer dropped a team-high 20 points and grabbed five board and handed out three assists.
 
Christina Ellis delivered another great performance and scored 19 points. The San Diego native also hauled in four rebounds and dished out three assists.
 
Junior Kaisah Lucky added 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds and handed out nine assists.
 
The Blue and White won the battle in the paint with 32 in the paint and 31 rebounds.
 
The JSU bench also came in with 34 points.
 
Scouting Texas Southern
 
TSU averages 67.5 points per game, which ranks first in the SWAC and allows 67.9 ppg, which ranks third in the conference. The Tigers use a balanced attack to frustrate opponents.
 
The duo Ciani Cryor (16.8) and Niya Mitchell (15.4) rank second and third in the conference in scoring. Ataiya Bridges also scores an average of 10.4 ppg and tanks 15th in the SWAC.
 
Mitchell is also the leading rebounder in the SWAC with 11.9 rebounds per game.
