MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Jackson State women's tennis team ended Alabama State's five year, 39-match conference winning streak with a 4-3 win Sunday afternoon at the SWAC Pod.
"Today is a great day to be a Tiger!" said JSU head tennis coach Gabby Moore. "This was quite a battle and an incredible match. Alabama State has a great team, and we were able to get it done in doubles and our players stepped up their game throughout the singles lineup. I am proud that we can say that we've broken a five-year conference win streak. We will take today and get ready for our next match."
Tyra-Nicole Whyte clinched the match 6-4, (6-7), 6-3 in singles action.
"It was the best feeling ever!" Whyte said. "The belief that the team and coaches had in me forced me to believe in myself."
