BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Jackson State's
Paula Corbalan and
Helen Hernandez claimed two Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) weekly awards for the Tigers, announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon, for their performances last week against the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats and Florida A&M Rattlers.
Corbalan was named co-Player of the Week after a 3-1 record over the weekend. Her biggest win came against the Wildcats after she clinched a 6-3, 6-3 victory at number one to cap off a perfect day for her and a shutout for Jackson State.
Hernandez was named Newcomer of the Week after she also went 3-1 on the weekend. The Hinds CC transfer won her first match against the Rattlers alongside
Daniela Tovar in a 6-1 decision, while also clinching the final point for a Jackson State victory after a 6-0, 7-5 decision.

The Tigers will travel back to Alabama for their final away match of the season, facing the Alabama A&M Bulldogs on April 4 at 11 a.m.
