JACKSON, Miss. - The Lady Tigers continue to add pieces to their NCAA Tournament and SWAC Championship team, signing former Houston star Miya Crump on Friday.
Crump, a native of Houston, Texas, joins the Lady Tigers after leading the Houston Cougars in points scored this past season with 10.5 points scored per game while ranking fourth on the team in rebounds per game with 4.8 rebounds a game. Crump led the Cougars in blocks with 20 blocks on the season, led in steals with 46 steals, and was ranked second with 62 assists for a team that finished 17-8 on the season and maybe a bid at the WNIT.
The 6'1 transfer was ranked the 181st prospect in the entire country coming out of high school and was the 17th ranked player in the state of Texas.
"As we are preparing to take things up a notch in our Women's Basketball program it was of great importance to bring in one more guard that's taller and athletic with DI playing experience. Miya being a hard worker, a great defender, a 6'1 guard, and being able to score in multiple ways will certainly take our overall game to a new level. She brings leadership and experience to the floor and I am looking forward to working with her" said head coach
Tomekia Reed.
