Women's Tennis Stays On Roll, Beats Grambling

The Jackson State University Lady Tigers have now won seven straight tennis matches, thanks to their 4-1 victory over Grambling State University here on Saturday.
 
With their win, the Lady Tigers increased their record in the Southwestern Athletic Conference to an unblemished mark of 8-0, 11-4 overall.  Grambling State dropped to 2-13, 2-6 in the SWAC.
 
Jackson State bested GSU 3-1 in singles action.  The Lady Tigers saw Sherine Salem defeat Itzel Hernandez 6-1, 6-0, Paula Arcarons defeat Lungile Ntuli 6-1, 6-1, and Tyra Whyte defeat Takudzwa Mawisire 6-2, 6-3.  Natalya Ogunwale fell to GSU's Georgina  Kaindoah 6-2, 6-2.
 
In doubles play, Jackson State won both of the completed matches.  The duo of Salem/Whyte topped Ntuli/Ochoa Ana 6-0, with Acarones/Daniela Ramos beating Kaindoah/Claire Machisa 6-0.
 
The Lady Tigers will return to action on Saturday, March 26, when they travel to Hattiesburg, Miss. to face the Golden Eagles of Southern Mississippi.
