Jackson State University handed the visiting North Carolina Central Eagles a 4-2 non-conference defeat in men's tennis action at the JSU Tennis Center on Wednesday.
The Tigers won four of the six singles matches against NCCU as well as both of the completed doubles matches, increasing their record to 4-5 on the season as the Eagles dropped to 2-9.
JSU's four singles wins all came in straight sets with
Juan Forcada defeating Amit Baran 6-3, 6-4,
Agustin Agosto defeating Oliver Saarinen 6-1, 6-3,
Richy Gamo defeating Shaka Cristellotti 6-0, 6-1, and
Hiromu Ikeda defeating LaQuon Gilchrist, 6-1, 6-1.
The JSU doubles teams of Agosto/Ikeda defeated Pino/Saarinen 6-3, with Gamo/Vargas defeating Gilchrist/Cristellotti 6-2.
Jackson State returns to action March 18 when its hosts Mississippi Valley State in a Southwestern Athletic Conference contest at 2 p.m. at the JSU Tennis Center.
